Overview

The aim of this initiative is to gather a collection of portraits of women who worked in control engineering over the decades and left their mark on the control engineering community. The purpose is to document their role and importance in the field of control engineering. In particular, the project want to shine a spotlight on the achievements of women in control engineering over the decades and for these women to act as role models for future generations of engineers

Short portraits will be compiled after a combination of interviews and research. These portraits will be available in different formats on the website of the Department of Automatic Control at Lund University. Other forms of dissemination and publication are envisaged.

Interview Procedure

After approaching women who have spent their career in control engineering the project members will send out a list of questions to prepare the interviewee. The interview will then be conducted online or in a phone call. Notes will be taken throughout the interview. If this is agreeable with the interviewee, recordings of the online meeting can be made. The notes taken will be translated into a text that will be shared with the interviewee for comment and approval.

Get in Touch

Please get in touch with us via Email (charlotta.johnsson@control.lth.se) if you know a female control engineering practitioner or academic who has made an impact to the field over her career.

For this project, we only consider women who have retired from their main career (albeit they may still be active to some extent in a part-time capacity).
